Swedish mobile gaming developer and publisher G5 Entertainment has started to offer merchandise around some of its most popular games. G5 is following in the footsteps of its Finnish competitor and Angry Birds maker Rovio. In its recently reported FY 2012 report, Rovio stated that some 45% of its revenue is now coming from “consumer products” (up from 30% one year earlier). While it might be unrealistic to assume that G5 will reach a similar success with its merchandise, the initiative is certainly a great move to enhance brand loyalty and keep its large player base close.
