#G5 Entertainment: Ranking check

G5 Entertainment’s games continue to sell close to record levels – at least for iOS that is. The picture looks somewhat different for Google Play, which following a poor autumn period and a recovery in December/early January, seems to have stagnated once again, looking at the top-grossing charts. From the poor Q4 2012 development, we have learned how important it is that G5 releases games also for Google Play on a regular basis, in order to keep interest for its overall games portfolio up. In that context, we are happy to note that G5 launched  “Epic Adventures: Cursed Onboard” for Google Play last Thursday (www.g5e.com/games/epic_adventures_cursed_onboard_android). Hopefully, more games will be launched simultaneously for iOS and Google Play going forward. So far, it appears to be that the highest quality titles usually appeal first for iOS and sometimes have not made it to Google Play at all (so far). There should be a long pipeline of top-quality games waiting to be ported to Google Play, e.g. free-2-play game “Doomsday Preppers“, which continues to generate nice revenue in the US on iOS.

This week’s highlight in terms of games releases was Art Mogul, which is an innovative mix of hidden object and business simulation. The game is climbing nicely in the top grossing charts and is already among the top 50 grossing iPad games in South Korea. Download the game here: Art Mogul HD – G5 Entertainment

We seriously hope that management will put the newly raised extra-capital to good work soon. Potential areas of use could be, e.g. a more balanced approach in terms of iOS and Google Play releases, focus on more own quality IPs and not the least more focus on high-quality free-2-play titles. Not all free-2-play titles are guaranteed successes, as the example of Jumpster has shown, so a careful development is key. Oh and talking about Jumpster – it is probably time to release it as an unlockable game for some USD 2.99.
